Where To Buy Cheap Vinyl Records (Online and In-Store) UPDATED 2019

A couple years ago I posted a YouTube video telling you my favorite places to buy vinyl from. This is basically the same content, but updated and now in blog form. You can still check out the original video here.

Record Stores: Unless you’re living under a rock I’m sure you know the best place to buy records is a record store. They can sometimes be expensive on new releases, but if you can afford the couple extra dollars it is definitely best to buy from your local record store. Don’t know if you have any record stores nearby? Just do a quick Google search or check out the Vinyl District app. On there you just pop in your zip code and all your local stores appear.

Record Shows: Record shows are basically flea markets but just with records.. which is pretty amazing. I’ve only been to one, but it was a great experience and I need to go to them more often. Visit this site to find information about record shows http://www.recordshowsofamerica.com/

Ebay: Ebay will forever be one of the best places to buy used / vintage records online, in my opinion anyways. https://www.ebay.com/

Discogs: You can literally find any album here. This place is a goldmine. Also great for cataloging your collection! https://www.discogs.com/search/

Amazon: Great for buying new albums and box sets. A lot of times you can find brand new items sealed and like $50 off the regular price. https://amzn.to/2u5SsRd *

Flea Markets: Literally 90% of my records came from flea markets, yard sales, junk stores, peddlers malls, etc. Check Goodwill. There’s nothing more exciting than crate digging. I could spot a stack of records from a mile away. And you never know what you’re gonna find there.

Facebook Selling Groups: Now this is an important one.  Pretty much every town has a trading post group. Once you’ve found the page just utilize the search option and search either “records” or “vinyl” and, ta-dah, there’s every listing. Update: Nowadays Facebook has the “Marketplace” which is basically the same thing. Just select your location, search records and there ya go.

Craigslist: Very similar to the Facebook groups ^^. Just people in your area selling records. Just be cautious about meeting people. Make sure you’re in a public place. https://www.craigslist.org/about/sites

Bull Moose: Has actual stores in Maine and New Hampshire. But they are also great to order online from. You can also accumulate “points” with purchases that you can use for discounts. Also brand new releases and preorders usually have discounts on here. http://www.bullmoose.com/

Reverb LP: This one is fairly new to me. But this is a marketplace made specifically for buy and selling records. https://lp.reverb.com
